Beacon College Library Information

Find basic information about the Beacon College Library, including our mission statement and policies. Please contact a member of the library staff with any questions.

Classroom Instruction

Both librarians are available for classroom instruction. To request library instruction, faculty are encouraged to send an email either to one of the librarians or to library@beaconcollege.edu or stop by the library for an in-person discussion of your individual needs. Librarians are assigned to classes based on their schedules and professional/educational backgrounds.

The librarians work with faculty to design instruction that is unique to the needs of the class. For this reason, it is requested that faculty request instruction at least two weeks in advance and that they be prepared for a discussion regarding expectations for the session(s).

The librarians are always looking for creative, innovative ways to provide students with critical information literacy skills that will benefit them not just at Beacon College but as lifelong learners, so please do not hesitate to contact us with your ideas on how we can best support you and your students.

Individual Student Research Assistance

The librarians are here to assist you with your research needs! Please do not hesitate to reach out to meet individually. Students are welcome to make an appointment by emailing library@beaconcollege.edu or simply by stopping by the library and requesting help. Whenever possible, students are provided with immediate individual assistance. However, it is always helpful to schedule an appointment. This ensures that a librarian will be available and prepared when you need help.

Group Research Sessions

As some classes are known to require extensive research that leads many students to visit the library for assistance, the librarians have begun offering group research sessions. Students enrolled in these classes, such as Learning Essentials, will be provided with information when the sessions are planned. These typically are offered in the evening hours. Snacks and beverages are provided, and both librarians are available to assist students with completing their research.

If you are in a class that you think would benefit from a group research session, just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
