Gretchen has worked at Beacon College for a decade, holding various roles on campus before becoming director of the library. This has given her insight into how different departments work together and has led to a strong interest in forming collaborative partnerships to benefit the academic, personal, and professional needs of the students. She has formed relationships with faculty, student services professionals, and the academic support services team to teach and reinforce critical information literacy skills both inside and outside of the classroom. Gretchen is an advocate for the student population, presenting and writing on the needs of the neurodiverse community in the academic library environment. Gretchen has spent the past two years working with the assistant library director and a history professor on a research project meant to determine both the information literacy skill level and confidence level of the neurodiverse college student and how best to meet their unique needs.
